Pay nothing until you collect entry fees
Creating an account and running free calls costs nothing. When you charge an entry fee, we take 7.1% of the fees you collect, and nothing else.
How our pricing works
Most open-call platforms charge hundreds of dollars per call before you collect a single entry. We charge nothing up front. We only earn when your call brings in entry fees.
- No subscription, no per-call fee, and no per-entry fee.
- No cost to create an account or publish a call, free or paid.
- A 7.1% commission on the entry fees you collect, and only when you collect them.
- Entry fees go straight to your organization’s own Stripe account. Our commission is deducted at the moment of each charge.
- You connect Stripe only when you first charge an entry fee.
The alternative to Google Forms
For calls with no entry fee. Always free, as long as you don’t collect money, with the same entry and judging tools as paid calls.
- Up to 100 entries per call
- Up to 3 free calls per month
- No card or bank details needed
7.1% of the entry fees you collect
For calls that charge an entry fee. Set a fee on any call when you’re ready, in the same account, and keep running free calls alongside it.
- No entry or call limits
- Fees go straight to your Stripe account
- Artists pay by card or popular wallets
From free to paid in one account
Start the way you might with Google Forms: publish a call, share the link, and collect entries for free. When you want to charge an entry fee, connect Stripe and set a fee on your next call. Your calls, entries, and team stay where they are.
What happens at the free limits
When a free call reaches 100 entries, it stops accepting new ones. You can publish 3 free calls each calendar month, and the next one can go live at the start of the following month. Calls with an entry fee have neither limit.
A worked example
A call with a $40 entry fee that receives 75 entries, one piece each.
| Line | Per entry | 75 entries |
|---|---|---|
| Entry fees collected | $40.00 | $3,000.00 |
| Our commission (7.1%) | −$2.84 | −$213.00 |
| Stripe processing fee | −$1.46 | −$109.50 |
| Your organization keeps | $35.70 | $2,677.50 |
Questions
Who pays Stripe’s processing fee?
It comes out of each entry fee, the same as any card payment, so your organization pays it. Artists pay only the entry fee you set.
What happens if an artist withdraws?
Artists can withdraw until judging closes. They get the full fee back, minus only Stripe’s processing fee. Our commission is refunded too, so you never pay commission on a withdrawn entry.
What if we have to cancel a call?
You can cancel while the call is live or in judging. Every paid entry is refunded automatically on the same terms as a withdrawal: the full fee minus Stripe’s processing fee, with our commission refunded too. Everyone who entered gets an email with your explanation.
How long do refunds take?
The refund is sent as soon as the artist withdraws or you cancel the call. Banks usually take 5 to 10 business days to show it.
When do we get paid?
Each entry fee lands in your Stripe balance when the entry is submitted. Stripe then pays out to your bank on your account’s payout schedule.
Which payment methods can artists use?
Cards and popular wallets, through Stripe Checkout.
Where is Open Call Manager available?
At launch, it’s for organizations based in the US, charging entry fees in US dollars.
